“Delalmar” translates to “that coming from your heart and soul”… I wrote it down on a business card ten years ago and I still carry it around in my wallet today.
A friend asked me what I would name my wine. Immediately, the story of the wine region in the South-West of France came to mind.
It is the story of a Spanish-French landspace and the erupting battle with England over the Red Wine ground which there was passionately fought over. “Delalmar” translates to “that coming from your heart and soul” and it is used to describe this battle. I wrote it down on a business card ten years ago and I still carry it around in my wallet today.
Love and Grace
My family is the core of my being and I value their support and compassion immensely. My wife still rolls her eyes at me when I taste wine like a real connoisseur but she loves me nonetheless. My son shares my passion for winemaking and is currently my right hand in the family business.
Perseverance & Faith
After a severe spinal cord injury more than a decade ago, which left me paraplegic, I started a new life and career in winemaking. Today after years and years of winemaking in commercial cellars and numerous awards locally and internationally, we opened up our own cellar. We believe the winemaking process must be as natural as possible.
Quality fruit must be cultivated in the vineyard and the characteristics of the fruit must be preserved during the winemaking process. Our wines must show the romance and style of the traditional old world techniques, and the respect that we have for Syrah as a cultivar. The basic principles like colour and flavour intensity, perfect balance and a long length must show. A visitor to our cellar must be able to experience the pure aromas of passion and the definite taste of dedication.
